Department of Education and English is part of Faculty of Social Sciences, opened for the first time in 2010. Currently, the Department of Education and English offers three study programs of Bachelor cycle and one study program of the Professional Master cycle:
Study program of Bachelor in “Primary Education Teaching”
The study program of Bachelor in “Elementary Education Teaching” is licensed upon Order of MoES No. 251, dated 02.06.2011 and accredited with Decision of Accreditation Board of ASCAL No. 81, dated 05.10.2019. This program offered by Department of Education and English is a first cycle study program with a normal duration of three academic years, 180 credits (ECTS) in a full-time study system.
This program prepares teachers for elementary classes of basic education, i.e. I-V classes, where the main objective is the equipment of students with basic knowledge and competences, who shall serve as teachers in their daily work. Likewise, the study program “Primary Education Teaching” enables students to deepen their knowledge in the second level studies – Profession Master in “Pedagogy” with the profile “Primary Education Teaching”.

The study program Bachelor in “Pre-school Education Teaching”
The study program Bachelor in “Pre-school Education Teaching” is licensed upon order of MoES No. 251, dated 02.06.2011 and accredited with Decision of Accreditation Board of ASCAL No. 80, dated 05.10.2019. This program offered by Department of Education and English is a first cycle study program with a normal duration of three academic years, 180 credits (ECTS) in a full-time study system.
This program consists in preparation of kindergarten teachers working with children aged 3-7 years old, who are registered in public and private pre-school institutions, such as children care centres, kindergartens, etc. Students graduating from the study program Bachelor in “Pre-school education teaching” shall have the following opportunities in the labour market:
The study program Bachelor in “English”
The study program Bachelor in “English” is licensed upon order of MoES No. 199, dated 16.05.2012 and accredited with Decision of Accreditation Board of ASCAL No. 39, dated 12.03.2021.
This program offered by Department of Education and English is a first cycle study program with a normal duration of three academic years, 180 credits (ECTS) in a full-time study system. The program aims to equip students with in-depth knowledge on the British and American language and culture. At the end of the three-year study program, with the obtaining of Bachelor diploma, students shall gain knowledge that aims to provide basic theoretical knowledge and expressions for a practical use of English language, taking into account the needs of labour market for professional experts of this language. Likewise, this study program offers students information about a further development in specialised program, focused on the study pf detailed profiles of English language at master level or specific training courses.

The study program “Professional Master in Pedagogy”
The study program “Professional Master in Pedagogy” is offered in two profiles: 1. “Primary Education Teaching” and 2. “Education Management”.
This program is licensed upon CoMD No. 89, dated 10.02.2010 and accredited with Decision of Accreditation Board of ASCAL No. dated 05.07.2019. This program has a normal duration of an academic year, which consists of 60 credits.
Students in the profile “Primary Education Teaching” shall understand in theory and practice the meaning of a successful “teaching”, including importance of an efficient class management to achieving a “success teaching-learning”, as well as learn the teaching components, techniques and strategies. It is very important to have students updated on competences that a students shall obtain during a teaching hour as well as contemporary techniques that a teacher must have to transmit these competences in pre-university education.
Students in the profile “Education Management” shall learn the concepts, ideas and theoretical principles of education management. Likewise, they shall have the opportunity to be equipped with sufficient knowledge about legislation and education policies, as well as those of school and education management. This study program provides students with skills and expressions focused on leadership and management activities of the school and education.
